Project management is the use of management knowledge, tools and technology in project activities, to solve project problems or meet the needs of the project.
Wuxi Golden Water Import & Export Co., Ltd. always attaches great importance to internal training of the company. Internal training not only meets the needs of human resources for the strategic development of the company, but also meets the needs of employees to improve their work efficiency and skills requirements. This week we carried out an internal seminar on the topic of project management in company management.
As one of the main suppliers of plastic bearing cages in China's automobile industry, our company's basic requirement is to comply with the IATF16949 quality management system, and project management is a key in R&D stage. IATF16949 standard clause 8.3.2.1 design and development planning clearly stipulates that the multi-party demonstration method shall be used includes project management; also stated in P2 of VDA6.3: batch production process audit, it is also an investigation of the application of project management in the manufacturing company. Therefore, for our company, it is a basic requirement for all employees involved in the product development process to master project management techniques.
Project management involves effective planning and systematic management of work. It includes defining project goals, formulating schedules and arranging tasks to achieve specific targets. The company makes full use of the Gantt chart tool for project management, which is very helpful for product development progress control and teamwork. For project managers, the use of Gantt charts can make project management clear and visible, and greatly improve work efficiency.
The Gantt chart is a tool that displays the internal relationship between the project, progress, and other time-related system progress through a bar chart. The status is constantly updated with the project progresses. The project manager can use the Gantt chart to visually indicate when the task is planned and compare the actual progress with the planned requirements, so that the project can be visualized, and the situation of each stage can be tracked. In our company’s practice, we combine the Gantt chart with Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and decompose tasks and milestone according to the process of injection molding cage development tobe our unique APQP plan.
The goal of the APQP plan is to promote everyone involved to ensure that the required steps are completed on time. This is also reflected in the RACI matrix in the plan to track the responsible. Therefore, our APQP plan not only includes details such as project milestone and task relationships, but also focuses on the status of the project and the process of completion. The plan should include the person in charge of the task and the completion date, so that the project leader can better evaluate the performance of the employees and know who should be responsible when a problem occurs.
